Do not attempt to intervene yourself. In serious cases, we will ask for police assistance and most public areas are subject to CCTV surveillance.

During Orange levels we are not required to operate with social distancing, however we have allowed for a limited number of socially distanced seats set up in pairs only in the front seating section of Cinema 1 for those who prefer to distance. Cinema 2 does not have any distancing sorry.

At Red Level social distancing is required and we will operate whole theatres as two seat booking options with 1m spacing. If you are booking for a single or three or more seats please note that the team will move the booking on the same row so you have a good safe gap between other bookings. If your booking is three or more then it will be seated together. All online bookings must pick up actual printed tickets on arrival.

You must sit in your assigned seat.

Please DO NOT come to the Roxy if you feel unwell or have been in contact with anyone who is unwell. Email info@roxycinema.co.nz (office hours) or call (04) 388-5555 ext. 2 (outside normal office hours) and the team can arrange a swap or refund within our standard T&Cs policy.

Online booking & cashless is best so please bring a contactless card. Sorry we no longer take telephone bookings.

We will continue to keep our beautiful theatres clean and sanitized with regular cleaning between sessions. Please be patient if cleaning is in progress when you arrive - the ushers will open the theatre doors as soon as they can.

Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance to each theatre.

Please take out your rubbish and place in bins and glassware onto the trolley outside and that way our ushers can focus on sanitising all the seats and tables between sessions.

We are a true independent theatre with just 4 private individuals as owner/operators and a bunch of incredibly hardworking, loyal and passionate staff who love our community, cinema, food, drinks and creating unforgettable experiences. No, we are not owned by the film industry and no, we don't get council funding - any profit we make has always been reinvested in the Roxy or in supporting our community and local charities.

We really appreciate every time you make a purchase from us - so thank you being understanding of our staff when they say you cannot bring your own food and drink into the building or that the bathrooms are for paying customers only or that there will be an intermission to sell concession snacks.

We are doing everything we can to continue to stay open and contribute to this wonderful community.

Thank you all for your continued support!
