Nestled in the heart of New Zealand’s movie-making capital, stands our boutique art deco theatre and versatile multi-arts venue, commonly known as ‘The Roxy’. We are an independent cinema, owned by passionate filmmakers, foodies and creatives, run by an excellent team of film and hospitality enthusiasts. The Roxy embeds two state-of-the-art cinemas, a lively café, our restaurant Coco at the Roxy, and award-winning dishes and cocktails, all within a two-storey building designed by Weta Workshop.

  

As one of the city’s leading attractions, The Roxy not only specialises in showcasing the latest films, but also hosts a variety of festivals, tours, premiers, multi-art events, off-site events, weddings, award ceremonies, conferences, corporate functions, parties… you name it! The Roxy is the place where anything is possible, and where creativity is concerned, the sky is the limit! Our goal is always to deliver a memorable experience for all our guests that brings them back through the doors again. 

Our diversity, layout and capability make for the perfect venue to host a Film Festival. As we are based in Miramar, the hub of the film industry, our community consists heavily of filmmakers. Short film screenings, premieres, independent films, film festivals and film fundraisers are hosted weekly at The Roxy due to the success of a common understanding of community and support in the area.

Working at The Roxy are award-winning Chefs and Mixologists who can take any food requests and create themed food and beverages to perfectly match films to help make your Festival an experience one where people can enjoy food and film together. Any food or beverages bought at The Roxy can be taken into the cinemas for consumption. Our luxurious red Italian leather seats make for a comfortable movie experience where one can relax and dine with ease.

Cinema 1 with 164 seats

Cinema 2 with 55 seats

Each row is very spacious and allows for patrons to walk down without disrupting others.

We have a luxury red carpet that can be rolled out for premieres and festival opening or closing night and our Grand Lobby function space can be themed with ease. 

With its own private toilets and bar, our Grand Lobby makes for the perfect pre-screening/after-party space, with a built in sound system, projector screen and projection mapping.

In order to support film festivals, we offer special discounted rates for both cinema hires and functions.
